On a trip to France, Cici Li immediately fell in love with the beauty of the Burgundy vineyards. She quickly decided to stay to experience the unique French wine culture in all its facets. “I was immediately curious and wanted to learn all about wine”, says Cici, beaming with joy as she recalls the moment her life was to change forever. Shortly afterwards, she attended the University of Burgundy, renowned for its winemaking courses, and found her true calling in the traditional winegrowers’ trade.

Cici was enchanted by Provence and its pretty, peaceful landscapes of lavender fields and gently rolling hills covered by vineyards. Equally relaxing was the peace and quiet of the Camargue Natural Park in the Rhône delta. Amid this wetland area with its reed beds, marshes and lagoons, between its shallow lakes and sparkling salt pans, Cici encountered rare waterfowl, pink flamingos and wild white horses, and enjoyed restful moments in harmony with nature.
“Sociable people who love wine – I was instantly curious about this culture.”

Surrounded by the earthy scent of vineyards in the warming light of the setting sun, Cici experienced many entertaining evenings in charming company. Cici sums up the essence of the French lifestyle: “I met so many people who loved to eat well and drink wine”. Her description makes clear why she was immediately enamoured of this particular way of life – and why she took a piece of it back to China with her own wine business.
